The Central Luzon Association of Higher Education Institutions (CLASSHEI) sponsored a seminar anchored on the focal point "Marketing Strategies and Labor Laws for Colleges and Universities," at BarCIE International Center, Rambutan Hall of the University of Regina Carmeli, Catmon, Malolos City, Bulacan last April 17, 2009.

The seminar is very timely. Each educational institution specially from the private sector, is seriously considering ways and means to maintain, sustain, and improve the size of its enrolment to cope with the global financial crisis as articulated in her welcome remarks by Sr. Niceta M. Vargas, President of the University of Regina Carmeli, represented by Ms. Filipinas Cruz.

"I am certain that each school administrator finds himself in a tension between marketing the school for survival and profit and truthfully informing the public of its quality branding and goals," Cruz further uttered as she spoke for Sr. Vargas.

Sr. Vargas ended her welcome remarks by saying that it is likewise just proper that we take time to study the labor laws that would serve as a rule to the just and right relationships between the employer and employees as well as the obligations of one another in carrying out the goals and objectives of the educational institution.

Lawyers Armando San Antonio and Reynaldo Tante shared their expertise in Labor Laws. Marcelo Fernandez (Bulacan) , Reynato Arimbuyutan (Nueva Ecija and Cabanatuan), Gregorio Sison, Jr. (Bataan), Chito de Jesus (Tarlac) and Edgar Geniza (Olongapo/ Zambales) on the other hand pooled in various marketing strategies that worked effectively for their respective schools.

The seminar was attended by various representatives from the different Central Luzon provinces' academic institutions.
